Really Want to Find God? A Reflective Journey
God, much like vampires, can seem more a figment of our imagination than a real entity. The idea of finding God can evoke a mix of curiosity and skepticism, particularly when we question His existence or the manner in which we would go about finding Him.
Why “Find” God?
Often, we consider finding God as a quest for something that we believe is elusive or non-existent. Since I do not believe in the existence of a God, the concept of finding Him is somewhat redundant. If a deity does exist, it would logically know of our existence and could communicate with us directly. The fact that it hasn’t done so suggests that either it doesn’t exist or it is uninterested in our interaction.
Guidance Through Messengers
The only way we can truly understand God, if He exists, is through His messengers. Throughout history, divine beings have sent prophets and religious leaders as guides, leading us closer to understanding His teachings. Whether through these divine messengers or no, God’s presence is felt in various ways, even if we may not always be aware of it.
Personal Reflection and Growth
My personal experience with finding God is quite profound, yet I must emphasize that it was God who found me, and I was the one who was lost. Realizing this shifted my perspective entirely. Much like a parent eagerly waiting for their teenager to return home late at night, God actively seeks out His children, waiting for us to seek Him. This reflection opened my eyes to a deeper understanding of God's love and His active pursuit of us.
Every day brings us closer to God, especially if we invite Him into our lives. God, who is both a divine gentleman and a source of infinite wisdom, respects our free will and will not force us to invite Him into our lives. This makes the pursuit of getting to know God a journey we can undertake consciously and deliberately.
Why Seek God?
Seeking God isn’t just about understanding Him; it’s about embracing the profound impact He can have on our lives. As captured in the lyrics of George Harrison's song, 'My sweet Lord, I really want to love You, I really want to be with You, I really want to know You, Lord...', the journey is a lifetime of pursuit and discovery.
As we grow closer to God, we begin to understand the deeper meanings of peace, purpose, and joy. Whether you are new to this journey or have been exploring it for a while, remember that God is always waiting for us. Embrace the journey and let God find you, as He is waiting to embrace you fully.
