Troubleshooting Your Liquid Eyeliner: Tips and Tricks for Perfect Liner Application
Just received a new liquid eyeliner, only to find that it barely produces any lines? Before you decide to exchange it or send it back, let's troubleshoot and find out what might be going wrong.
Understanding Your Hold
How you hold your liquid eyeliner can significantly affect the quality of your lines. There are two common methods:
Vertical Hold: Pointing the tip vertically with your eyelid at a 90-degree angle. 0-Degree Hold: Laying the pen's full length on your eyelid at a 0-degree angle. The 0-degree hold is generally better for beginners, as it allows for more precision and control. However, many professionals recommend a vertical hold for its ability to create neater, more controlled lines.
Pressure and Technique
Another critical factor is the pressure you apply to your skin. Many people tend to press too hard, which can cause the eyeliner to bleed or smudge. Instead, use a light touch to achieve the best results.
If you are trying to create a winged liner, a common challenge, here's a step-by-step guide:
Draw the liner 2-3 millimeters longer than your natural upper lash line. Look straight into the mirror and flick the wing as if it were the continuation of your lower lash line, pointing towards the temple. Without moving, tuck your head back and connect the flick with your natural upper lash line. This technique should help you achieve a wing that fits well with your eye shape.
Note: While I have included a disclaimer, you can find a video demonstrating this technique. Watch it on YouTube, and you might find affiliate links in my description box in the future.
Additional Tips
Finally, if none of the above tips work, you might consider adding a little bit of water to the eyeliner tube and shaking it up well. This can help to break down any impurities and improve the flow of the eyeliner.
If the product is still not meeting your expectations, consider taking it back to the point of purchase. You can either get a refund or an exchange. Most stores have policies that support returns or exchanges within a certain timeframe after purchase.
Good luck, and feel confident about achieving the perfect liner look!
