When Offered a Plastic Surgeon’s Hand: What Would You Do?
Imagine this: a plastic surgeon reaches out to you with an opportunity to treat your face. What would you do if you were faced with this offer?
For someone who has already undergone significant facial reconstructive surgery, like re-assembling the left temple 40 years ago, the response might not be as enthusiastic as you might think. My personal experience involves a reconstructive surgery where the scar is almost unnoticeable. Wrinkles on one side of my eyes are slight, and I don’t find them particularly bothersome. I’ve come to terms with my face and don’t seek additional cosmetic interventions.
Scar Reduction or No?
On the other hand, if the opportunity for a free scar reduction came my way, the answer might be different. The scar on my right cheek was the result of a basal cell lesion removal just a few years ago. While the scar isn’t a problem for me, the thought of having it reduced could be tempting.
Is a Face Lift on the Horizon?
Does the idea of a face lift ever cross your mind? For many individuals, the aging process brings the contemplation of cosmetic improvements. However, my personal journey has been different. At nearly seventy years old, I remain content with the face I was born with. I’ve settled into my age gracefully, and the knowledge that people recognize and accept my appearance with kindness is a comfort in itself.
Accepting the Challenge
What eventually drew me to plastic surgery was a game-changing opportunity many years ago. The term 'fugly' didn’t resonate with me then, but it certainly can play a part in one's decision-making process. The fact is, even a significant scar from an earlier medical procedure is not always a deal-breaker. What if an unexpected opportunity came your way to address it?
The Helmet Lesson
When it comes to accepting cosmetic improvements, one must always consider the potential risk and the desired outcome. Just as you wouldn’t touch the helmet of a child, thinking of enhancing your own appearance should be done with caution. The right decision is one that you’re comfortable with and that aligns with your personal goals and ideals.
In summary, whether to accept a plastic surgeon’s offer depends on your personal comfort level, the nature of the procedure, and your current satisfaction with your appearance. Embrace the unique features that make you who you are, but always consider the options available to you.
